Election and Voter Information

The Paramount City Council consists of five members elected to serve four-year terms of office.  Each year, the five Councilmembers select one of their own to serve as Mayor.  Councilmembers must be registered voters of the City and their four-year terms of office alternate so that either two or three Councilmember seats are open in alternate election years.   Click HERE for City Council meeting information.

The City of Paramount conducts General Municipal Elections to elect members to serve on the City Council in in even-numbered years coinciding with the Statewide Primary Election .  The City Clerk is responsible for overseeing the administration of the City’s General Municipal Election and elections are coordinated with the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder/County Clerk’s Office.

Next Election: November 5, 2024 

A Special Municipal Election will be held in the City of Paramount on November 5, 2024 for voters to consider a ballot measure to revise the City’s current Business License Tax to a gross receipts tax. See Notice of Election below for information regarding the measure and the process for submitting arguments for or against the measure.

Voting

The City’s election is being held in conjunction with the Presidential election and the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder/County Clerk is the primary source for specific election information, including registering to vote, sample ballots, voting by mail, and voting locations. To learn more, visit lavote.gov.

All registered voters will received a Sample Ballot and Vote-by-Mail ballot in the mail by mid-October. There are multiple ways to return your ballot:

  • By mail, no postage is necessary.
  • At any participating Vote by Mail Ballot Drop Box location. (There are two in town, one at the Paramount Library at 16254 Colorado Ave. and another at the Paramount Park Community Center at 14400 Paramount Blvd.)
  • At any Vote Center in L.A. County. (List of locations in town to be determined, but voters may vote in person at any Vote Center in the County.)

Voter Information/Registration

The Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder/County Clerk is the primary source for voter registration and local election information, including sample ballots, voting by mail, early voting locations, and finding your polling place. Visit the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder/County Clerk’s website to learn more.

To be eligible to vote in an election, you must registered. If you would like to receive a sample ballot in the mail, you must register at least 15 days prior to the election date. Voter registration forms may be obtained from the Paramount’s City Clerk’s Office, the Office of the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder/County Clerk, and post offices. With the new Voting Solutions for All People system that Los Angeles County is starting in 2020, you will also be able to register at the “vote centers” when you show up. Some vote centers will provide an opportunity to cast a ballot for 10 days leading up to Election Day.
