Water Mainline Flushing
To maintain the quality of your water, the City routinely does water mainline flushing.
- Flushing the water mains or pipes requires flowing water at a high velocity from fire hydrants to remove accumulated sediments.
- In this drought condition, we will use the minimum amount of water required to flush the mains.
- During flushing, the water may become discolored and unsuitable for situations requiring clear water “ie, doing laundry, filling of swimming pools.”
- Water is still safe for drinking.
- If discoloration appears, let it run for a few minutes until it is clear.
