Mommy and Me and Daddy Too

Mariposa Center, 8550 Jefferson St.

Explore play, music, and art with your little ones during our FREE Mommy and Me and Daddy Too classes! Parents with infants and toddlers from 1 to 4 years old will enjoy fun activities during this seven-week session. 

Open to Paramount residents and PUSD families, classes are limited to one per session, as well as one child per adult. Parent participation is required.

Interested in volunteering in your community's events and programming? The Paramount Teen Leadership Alliance (PTLA) is a youth volunteering program open to all PUSD students or Paramount residents in grades 6th through 12th. Students will develop leadership skills while making a positive impact in their community.

The Spane Learning Center, located at 14400 Gundry Avenue, offers a variety of afterschool programming and resources. 

Homework Help
Homework Help is a drop-in program for students in grades K-12 on Monday through Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Seating is limited.

Adult Aerobics Class
The Paramount Education Partnership seeks to provide opportunities aimed at promoting an active lifestyle. Looking to improve your cardiovascular efficiency, muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination and body fat? Then our fitness class is for you!  Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Adult Basic Skills Learning (ESL)
This class is designed for adults whose English is their second language and who need reinforcement in grammar, writing, speaking and reading. The class will be a small group so that all students are guaranteed individual time and the instructor can better meet their needs. The use of educational software, workbooks and educational websites allows students hands-on instructional practice. Monday – Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Parent Workshops
The purpose of these workshops is to educate parents on issues such as self-esteem, eating habits, child obesity, drug and substance abuse, communication techniques, women’s health, domestic violence and child abuse. Days and time vary.

Ways you can help!
We are always searching for dedicated individuals to volunteer as tutors in providing assistance in math and reading to students who are performing below grade level.  Interested candidates must have excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to work with K-12th-grade students. Volunteers may work as many hours per week as desired but reliability and consistency are a must.

Join us every third Wednesday of the month for a special Storytime with a Councilmember at the Paramount Library (16254 Colorado Ave.) at 5 p.m., followed by a fun craft activity for all attendees.
