Each year, the California Legislative Women’s Caucus commemorates Women’s History Month with the annual Woman of the Year Floor Ceremony, where Assemblymembers honor outstanding women from their districts for their leadership and community impact.
On Monday, March 16, Assemblymember José Luis Solache, Jr. proudly recognized Paramount resident Maricela Parga as the Assembly District 62 Woman of the Year for her extraordinary dedication to service.
Since moving to Paramount in 1993, Maricela has been deeply committed to strengthening her community. What began as involvement in her children’s schools quickly evolved into a lifelong mission to support families and promote educational engagement.
In 2003, she co-founded Mujeres Unidas Sirviendo Activamente (MUSA), an organization that has grown from a small grassroots effort into a vital nonprofit serving families throughout Paramount and beyond. Through her leadership, MUSA has fostered meaningful connections between parents and schools, while providing critical resources to those in need.
Whether supporting City events like the Santa Train or organizing assistance for families facing immigration hardship, Maricela’s work reflects a deep and enduring commitment to others.
Her decades of service continue to inspire and uplift the Paramount community.
