On Tuesday, November 12, the City Council issued a formal proclamation recognizing November as National Home Care and Hospice Month. This annual observance honors the essential role of homecare and hospice providers in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to individuals in the comfort of their own homes.
This recognition also highlights the City’s collaboration with Pathways Circle of Care, a leading local provider of hospice and home care services. Pathways supports individuals facing chronic illnesses, disabilities or end-of-life transitions through specialized services, such as pain management, counseling and caregiver education. In addition, Pathways conducts safety home checks for seniors, identifying and addressing potential hazards like inadequate lighting and tripping risks to create secure environments that promote independence and well-being.
Through its partnership Pathways Circle of Care and these community-driven initiatives, the City reaffirms its ongoing commitment to senior residents. By fostering services that prioritize safety, independence and dignity, Paramount ensures that older residents can thrive in the community they call home.
According to the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), over 75% of seniors express a desire to age in place, surrounded by familiar environments and loved ones. In support of this preference, Paramount further aligns with the spirit of National Home Care and Hospice Month through various year-round senior-focused programs, including:
- The Senior Nutrition Program, which offers a weekly meal delivery and on-site dining service to combat food insecurity.
- Affordable, accessible transportation through the Paramount Dial-A-Ride program for seniors to attend medical appointments and run essential errands.
- Caregiver Support Workshops that provide resources and guidance for family caregivers navigating the challenges of at-home care.
